Yeji (예지), born as Hwang Ye-ji (황예지), is a South Korean singer and rapper under JYP Entertainment. She is the leader, a dancer, vocalist, rapper and visual of the South Korean girl group ITZY.
Personal life
Yeji was born in Jeonju, North Jeolla, South Korea on May 26, 2000. Her family consists of her mother, her father, and her older sister.[1]
Career
Predebut
On 2018 Yeji joined SBS' reality competition television series, The Fan, but was eliminated in episode 5.[2]
On Jan. 20, 2019 she was revealed as the leader of ITZY, JYP Entertainment's newest girl group.
2019-present: ITZY
On February 12, 2019, Yeji debuted with the single album IT'z Different as lider, main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper of ITZY.
On March 2021, she was selected as STUDIO CHOOM's "Artist Of The Month", with a special dance performance on "River" by Bishop Briggs.[3]
On May 1, 2021, she became a special MC on Show! Music Core.
Yeji, along with Ryujin, was featured on a remix version of Bebe Rexha's single "Break My Heart Myself" in 2022.
On January 8, 2024, Yeji participated in writing and composing her original solo song "Crown On My Head" for ITZY's eighth mini album BORN TO BE.
