Ryujin (류진), born as Shin Ryu-jin (신류진), is a South Korean singer, rapper, and dancer under JYP Entertainment. She is the center, a dancer, rapper and visual of the South Korean girl group ITZY.
Personal life
On April 17, 2001, Ryujin was born in Seoul, South Korea. Her family consists of her, her mother, her father, and her older brother. [citation needed]
Career
Predebut
She had a bit part as Ji Min in the South Korean film The King, which was released on January 18, 2017.
In October of 2017, she became a contestant on the survival show MIXNINE. She ranked 1st place in the finale, however, was eliminated when the boys' team won against the girls', thus ultimately not being able to debut.[1]
2019-present: ITZY
On January 20, 2019, she was revealed, along with her fellow members, as a member of ITZY, the newest girl group under JYP Entertainment.
On February 12, 2019, Ryujin debuted with the single album IT'z Different as main rapper, lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and center of ITZY.
Ryujin, alongside fellow member Chaeryeong and soloist Somi, graduated from Hanlim Multi Arts School on February 7, 2020.[2]
On November 2021, she was selected as STUDIO CHOOM's "Artist Of The Month", with a special dance performance on "Therefore I Am" by Billie Eilish.[3]
Ryujin, along with Yeji, was featured on a remix version of Bebe Rexha's single "Break My Heart Myself" in 2022.
On January 8, 2024, Ryujin participated in writing and composing her original solo song "Run Away" for ITZY's eighth mini album BORN TO BE.
