ITZY (있지 issji) is a South Korean girl group under JYP Entertainment, consisting of 5 members: Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. They debuted on February 12, 2019 with their single album IT'z Different.

Concept

[Itzy] means "To have" in Korean. We have everything you guys expect in us.

Career

Pre-debut

New girl group announcement, unvail trailers

On January 21, 2019, JYP Entertainment announced they would be debuting a new girl group, being the first girl group from the label since Twice's 2015 debut. On the same day, the group's official YouTube account was created and the label's official channel shared a video trailer unveiling the five members.

2019: Debut, "IT'z" series, 1st mini album

On February 12, ITZY debuted with their debut single album IT'z Different, with its title track "DALLA DALLA". The song incorporates elements from EDM subgenres, such as future house and bass house. Its empowering lyrics have been well received by the audience. The music video surpassed 14 million views within 24 hours of its release, with Youtube confirming that DALLA DALLA had a total of 17.1 million views for its first 24 hours since publishing.

On July 29, ITZY released their first mini album IT'z ICY, with its title "ICY".

2020: 1st showcase tour, "IT'z" series, 2nd, 3rd mini album

ITZY started the year with their showcase tour in the United States, on January 17 in Los Angeles and finished on January 26 in New York City.

On March 9, ITZY made their comeback with their second mini album IT'z ME, with its title track "WANNABE".

On August 17, ITZY released their comeback with their third mini album Not Shy, with its title track "Not Shy".

2021: English debut, 4th mini album, 1st studio alnum Japanese debut

On January 22, ITZY released their English debut album Not Shy (English ver.). It includes English versions of all their title tracks.

On March 12, ITZY released the digital single "Trust Me (MIDZY)", a song dedicated to their fans, as part of their first global livestream event.

On April 30, 2021, ITZY made their comeback with their fourth mini album GUESS WHO , with its title track "In the morning".

On September 24, ITZY released their first studio album CRAZY IN LOVE, with its title track "LOCO".

On December 22, ITZY released their Japanese best album IT'z ITZY.

2022: 1st Japanese single, 5th mini album, 1st world tour, collaboration, 2nd japanese single, 6th mini album

On April 6, ITZY released their first Japanese single Voltage.

On July 15, ITZY released their fifth mini album,CHECKMATE.

On June 29, Yeji and Ryujin released the remix single "Break My Heart Myself (feat. Yeji & Ryujin of ITZY)" in collaboration with American singer Bebe Rexha.

On October 5, ITZY released their second Japanese single Blah Blah Blah.

On October 21, ITZY released their pre-release English single "Boys Like You".

On November 30, ITZY made their comeback with their sixth mini album CHESHIRE.

2023: 1st Japanese studio album, Lia's hiatus

On October 18, ITZY released their first Japanese studio album RINGO.

On May 22, on Good Day New York, Chaeryeong confirmed that they are preparing to make a comeback with an album in summer 2023.[1] On July 31, ITZY released their seventh mini album KILL MY DOUBT.

On August 7, ITZY posted the photos with caption: "Bring me an Apple!" on their social media. October 18, ITZY released their first Japanese studio album RINGO.

On September 17, JYP announced that Lia would be taking a hiatus due to symptoms of extreme tension and anxiety, and on September 18, would be absent of their eighth mini album and 2nd world tour[2][3][4][5]

2024: 2nd world tour, 3rd japanese single, 9th mini album 3rd fanmeeting

On January 8, ITZY released their eighth mini album BORN TO BE.

From February 24 to August 10, they held their 2nd world tour, "BORN TO BE".

On May 15, ITZY released their third Japanese single Algorhythm.

On October 15, ITZY released their night mini album GOLD.

On November 2, they held their third fanmeeting in Seoul, "MIDZY's Cells".

  • In April 8, 2019, 3 months after debut, DALLA DALLA reached 100M views making ITZY be the fastest 4th gen Group to reach 100M Views in Youtube.
  • ITZY is the only 4th Generation Idol Group to chart all of their title tracks inside Gaon Digital Chart Top 10.
