CRAZY IN LOVE is the first studio album by South Korean girl group ITZY. It was released on September 24, 2021, with "LOCO" serving as the title track.

The album comes in six versions: one for each member, and one group version. The special edition album comes in two versions: Photobook version and Jewel Case version.

Background

On August 12, ITZY released the first poster for their upcoming album, CRAZY IN LOVE.

Composition

“ The title song 'LOCO' shows a new side of ITZY, who never loses confidence based on their belief in themselves. Those who did not seem to be thirsty for love eventually confess that they have fallen deeply in love and sing of strong emotional attraction, pouring out words such as “You drive me half crazy” and “Oh Gosh, this is like sweet poison.” The third meeting with GALACTIKA *, a hit composition team that proved their fantastic chemistry through the representative songs 'DALLA DALLA' and 'WANNABE', foreshadows the birth of another masterpiece. Star Wars * (GALACTIKA *)'s trademark Fusion Groove was combined with Latin dance, moombahton, and trap sounds to create ITZY's signature 'Neo Fusion Groove' genre. The title 'LOCO', which is another word for 'Crazy' derived from Latin, was brought to the fore, and the state of being swept up in the vortex of love was expressed through a sound that seemed to be racing. This is also reflected in the new visual concept and music video. Clothing with a collage of different textures and bold hair styling revealed emotional changes like a roller coaster. The music video, which depicts the enormous emotional fluctuations that occur in the split-second of the other person's absence, boasts an unprecedented scale and provides a sense of immersion that you cannot take your eyes off. Not only is the huge emotion called love visualized with bulldozers, dynamite, and numerous gift boxes, but the self-directed rush of one's emotions is expressed through a group dance scene in front of an outdoor electronic display board, leaving a strong and huge impact. The new album features leading writers from home and abroad, heralding the birth of a masterpiece that will hit the music industry in the second half of 2021. Including the title song 'LOCO', 'SWIPE', 'Sooo LUCKY', '#Twenty', 'B[OO]M-BOXX', 'Gas' Me Up', 'LOVE is', 'Chillin' Chillin'', and 'Mirror' will be released for the first time, and representative songs such as 'Dalla Dalla' and 'Mirror' will be released for the first time. 'ICY', 'WANNABE', 'Not Shy', 'MA.P.A. A total of 16 tracks are included, including the instrumental versions of 'In the morning' and 'LOCO', as well as the English version of the title song 'LOCO', and are expected to provide full satisfaction to K-pop fans around the world. The Straits Times

Tanu I. Raj of NME found CRAZY IN LOVE "underwhelming" in comparison to ITZY's previous works. In a three-star review she said that the album is "conceptually and logically sound in ushering in an era of maturity for [Itzy], but we can’t help but think back about the act who first made us fall in love with them with their message of empowerment." Benson Ang of The Straits Times gave the album a four-star rating, praising "catchy" and "high-energy" songs and noting "the album makes for a great soundtrack for a girls' night out."
